教育部頒佈國中基本一千個字詞：例句及說明
1. a (an)（一個；同一的；某一個）（adj. 形容詞）
例句：
Rome（羅馬）was not built in a day.（一）
中譯： 羅馬不是一天造成的。
A student came to see me.（有某一個）
My husband gave me an A for the supper（晚餐）I made last night.
（一個）
注意：
英語是以發音為主的一種語言， a或 an的選擇要由a或 an後面那個字的發音來決定，如果後面那個字的發音（不是拼字）第一個音是母音則要用an其他的音則要用a。
例如：an A, an F, an H, an S, an X, an hour, an uncle, an honest…
a boy, a U, a unit, a one-eyed man, a horse…
2. a few（一些）（adj. 形容詞）
3. a little（一些）（adj. 形容詞）
例句：
I have a few cats but he has a few dogs.（一些）
I have a little money but not much.（一些）
注意一:
a few 的後面要加 “複數” 的 ”可數” 名詞 例如: boys, girls, friends…
a little 的後面要加 ”不可數” 名詞 例如: money, time…
He is a little boy. 中譯： 他是一個小男孩。
這個句子中的 a little 不是一些的意思， 後面的 boy 也不需用複數加s
為什麼？？？ 注意前面的提示！
答對了！！！
boy是 ”可數” 名詞， 而不是 ”不可數” 名詞。
所以， He is a little boy. 中譯： 他是一個小男孩。
而不是翻譯成：他是一些男孩。
Get it？（明白了嗎？）
注意二:
many及 much（許多）的用法和a few，a little（一些）相同。
只是在數量上 many 比 a few 多，much 比 a little 多。
例句：
I have many cats but he has many dogs.
I have much money.
注意三:
few 跟 a few 有何不同？ little跟 a little有何不同？
a few跟 a little 是肯定的用法（有一些）。
但是，few跟 little是否定的用法（幾乎沒有）。
例句：
I have a few friends. 中譯： 我有一些朋友。
I have few friends. 中譯：我沒有什麼朋友（朋友很少，幾乎沒有朋友）
I have few friends. 幾乎等於＝I have no friends.（我沒有朋友。）
I have a little money. 中譯：我有一些錢。
I have little money. 中譯：我沒有什麼錢。（錢很少，幾乎沒有錢）
I have little money. 幾乎等於＝I have no money. （我沒有錢。）
4. a lot = a lot of =lots (of)（很多）（adj. 形容詞）
例句：
I have a lot of friends. 中譯：我有很多朋友。
He’s feeling a lot better today. 中譯：他今天身體好很多了。
注意：這個句子中的 a lot=very much是副詞用法
5. able（能；有本事的；能幹的）（adj. 形容詞）
例句：
Will you be able to come？（能）
Alex is an able man.（有本事的；能幹的）
6. about（關於；大約）（prep.介系詞）；（大約；忙於﹍）（adv. 副詞）
例句：
I know all about it.（關於）
What is it all about? 中譯：這是怎麼一回事？
It is about ten o’clock.（大約）

7. above（在…的上方；對﹍太困難）（prep.介系詞）
例句：
Our plane（飛機）is flying above the clouds（雲）.（在﹍的上方）
This book is above me. English is above me.（對﹍太困難）
8. afraid（害怕；恐怕）（adj. 形容詞）
例句：
There’s nothing to be afraid of.（害怕）

中譯：營業時間：上午九點到下午五點。
注意:
1. a.m. 和 p.m. 用法相同。
2. a.m. 和 p.m. 大寫小寫都可以，字母後面的點可有可無，但是必須一致。
所以a.m. 的寫法有四種：a.m. am A.M. AM
p.m. 的寫法有四種：p.m. pm P.M. PM
3. a.m. 和 p.m. 千萬記得要放在表示時間的數字之後。

Come and see me tomorrow. =Come to see me tomorrow.（及）
28. angry（生氣的）（adj. 形容詞）

注意： angry 後面接with＋某人
angry 後面接at＋某人之言行
angry 後面接about＋某事

注意：
在英文裡有些動詞有兩種形容詞v-ing跟v-ed。 像bore（厭煩）這個動詞就有 boring跟bored兩種形容詞。 在句子中，到底該用哪一個形容詞，要如何分辨呢？
先看例句。
1. English class is boring . 中譯：英文課是無聊的。
2. He feels bored. 中譯：他覺得無聊。
v-ing跟v-ed的選擇有兩個重點：
A. 既然v-ing 跟 v-ed都是形容詞，先找出它們所形容的對象（可以利用中文翻譯找）。 例如，第1個句子告訴我們，令人無聊的是英文課， ”令人無聊的”
所形容的對象是英文課。 第2個句子告訴我們，覺得無聊的是他，
”無聊的” 所形容的對象是他。
B. 這個被形容的對象是本身覺得無聊，還是令人覺得無聊。 如果是令人覺得無聊（第1個句子）那就要用v-ing。 如果是本身覺得無聊（第2個句子）那就要用v-ed。
在英文裡還有一些其他的動詞也有這兩種形容詞，分辨的方式都一樣。
例如： interesting / interested exciting / excited
frightening/frightened touching/touched
surprising/surprised tiring/tired
